Go Red for Women was launched in 2004 by the AHA and is a national women’s health movement working to increase awareness of cardiovascular diseases. Our local, year-long campaigns provide women of all generations with lifesaving knowledge and information to live healthier lives. Cardiovascular diseases claim the life of one women every 80 seconds, yet 80% of these deaths are preventable with awareness and simple lifestyle choices.
Go Red For Women provides a platform for women and their families to lead healthier lives, and drive collective action for community transformation. It’s not just about wearing red; it’s not just about sharing heart health facts. It’s about:
Providing women with opportunities to prioritize and take charge of their own health;
Building communities that support and provide access to healthy choices;
Demanding equal access to healthcare for all women and their families;
Increasing women in STEM in upcoming generations.
Through corporate and community- based partnerships, volunteer leadership, individual donors and survivors, Go Red unites women of all generations and ethnicities to recognize their risk of heart disease, create lasting change in their health, become life savers through educating others and ultimately help eliminate heart diseases and stroke.
Together, we will drive innovation, research and education to create a safer, healthier Chicago.
This year’s cornerstone Go Red for Women Executive Luncheon is Friday, February 15, 2019.
